Karen,
    Not sure what the timing was as to when you saw this baby and when
he has his last Iv, but somtimes when a baby is in the Neonatal
Intensive Care unit the IV infiltrates and creates a large extremity.
Just wondering if this is the cause.  Are  there any needle stick holes
in that hand or lower arm?
