Lactnetters -
Another interesting call today, this one from our local LC. She has a
pregnant mom due next month. The mom has grown a "raisin-sized" lump on the
underside of her breast - on the breast itself, not on the areola or in the
crease under her breast. It grew, then burst, leaking pus. She had one
earlier in this pregnancy on her areola. She was pregnant a few years ago
and she got one of these growths then as well, but miscarried in her 4th
month. She does not get these lumps when she is not pregnant, only gets them
during her pregnancies.
Doctor says it is mastitis, has her washing breasts with Physohex and taking
antibiotic. Told her she should not bf, that it would make condition worse.
Anybody have a clue what this could be? Boil? Cyst? Abcess?
Thanks!
