A client struggling with her second episode of mastitis and very sore nipples
shared an interesting insight. she has been considering weaning, and I've
been gently supporting her to wait until she feels better to decide. Today
the meds are working and the positioning is helping etc. She remarked that
much of the ambivalence and distress she's been communicating comes from the
fact that she has a lot of old issues surfacing (as they often do pp) and
rather than deal with these feelings, she was blaming her emotional state on
her breastfeeding difficulties. I bet this happens a lot.
