Dear Beth, how old is this baby?  Lactic acidosis  happens in several
severe conditions and is a form of metabolic acidosis.  The condition must
be corrected as not correcting may lead to  coma and death. (Conditions are
shock, diabetic ketoacidosis, uremia, starvation, drugs, hyperkalemia or
other conditions).  Once condition is corrected BF should not be a problem.
