Michelle: I and any SCN nurses would agree that bags of any knd are not
the ideal. I forgot to mention that the nurses transfer the milk from the
gerber bags to capped volu-feeds once the milk is brought in. We recently
changed our policy to state that the parent is not allowed to put or take
her baby's milk into or out of the fridge/freezer. There were some concerns
about the "traffic" in and out of the nsy fridge. Currently, when a mom
brings in milk she is to hand it to her baby's nurse who then pours it into
capped labeled color-coded volu-feeds which is then placed in the hinged
color-coded plastic box in the fridge/freezer. Each baby is assigned 2
boxes - one for the fridge, one for the freezer.
