In the past week I have cared for two mothers who were told by heath
professionals that "of course" they were having trouble nursing because
they had "terrible inverted" nipples. On examination neither had inverted
nipples, nor were they particularly flat. One had a pale areola but
otherwise protruding nipples.

One is using only silicon (for 11 weeks already) and the other only
pumping. I have shown both of them that they can nurse fine, but the
confidence damage is already done. Why do health professionals do this???
(rhetorical question, just needed to vent)
