A mother with bi-polar disorder, nursing 13-month-old twins, has asked
for information on Trileptal (oxcarbazepine) -- her doctor is proposing
switching her medication from Depakote (which she's taken for a long
time, but not finding effective any more). The drug, used more commonly
for epilepsy, is fairly new, so some of the information she has to share
with her doctor, from Hale and a Google search, is inconclusive. The
Lactnet archives had some useful posts but does anyone have more recent
updates/experiences with the drug?

Margaret Wills, LLLL, IBCLC
