Dear Judie,

When my daughter came down with a severe sore throat this
summer, the doc wanted to have her tested for mono, but when I
told him that she had had mono a year or so ago, he said that she
couldn't get it again and dropped the test request. (she had strep).
Wondering how she was diagnosed this time? Serology? CBC?

Lawrence discusses EBV in her latest edition, ending with the
recommendation that..."In areas where Burkitt's lymphoma and
nasopharyngeal carcinoma are uncommon (primarily observed in
Africa and southeast Asia respectively) EBV infection in the mother
or infant is not a contraindication to breastfeeding." Would
recommend you read the full refererence for more detail on subject.

Warmly,
Sharon Knorr, BSMT, LLLL, IBCLC
