Hi Michele,
I have a study he could tear down! It really NEEDS tearing down, as it has
the risk of being the basis of a national guideline that promotes letting
babies cry it out... :-(
The study compares dealing with excessively crying babies (as perceived by
the parents...!) either with just regularity and stimuli reduction or with
regularity, stimuli reduction AND swaddling.
So, it did not research the effect of regularity and stimuli reduction
compared with other parenting styles, but reg./stim.red. with or without
swaddling.
"Good grief, this study really sucks", said one of our famous Lactnetters,
so he can have some fun time with it, when it has to be on research
methods... :-s ;-))
So, if either you are or he is interested, you can mail me off list for
details. By the way... I'm proud to be able to say that the statement we
made is now on ILCA's Author's Page, to be found here (scroll down a bit, to
the V from Vanderveen):

Bye,
