As a mama who dealt with reflux (very recently) and knows several other
mothers who have, it sounds like a classic case of the wrong medication
given to a refluxing baby. H2 blockers "work" for about 2 weeks and then the
acid production builds back up. Sounds like what happened here.

I would encourage her to do some more research into other medication
options. I am not trying to push medications - other issues should also be
looked at including overactive letdown, food allergies, nipple confusion,
even tongue tie, but most doctors prescribe zantac (or another H2) and
reglan, skipping the most effective and safe medicines in young children for
reflux, PPIs.

A good place for research is http://www.marci-kids.com/ . They will even
take emails and speak to your pediatrician about specific treatment plans
and medication. My doctor was thankful and excited to learn from them. It
saved my sanity as well, getting him properly medicated so early on. Reflux
is a LIVING hell, and shamefully, one I dismissed as a little "fussing" and
spitup before I had to deal with it myself.

Blessings,
Micky
