Several people have commented on the thick green stools produced by infants
given Enfamil Lipil. This and all formulas containing the additives DHA and ARA
are under post market surveillance in the US. Each time you see a side effect
such as what is being described, please report it to the FDA's MedWatch
program at their internet site, www.fda.gov. This is very important not only to the
infants being given these unproven and unnecessary products but also to
policy makers and those who allow these products onto the market. These formulas
should contain a warning on the label regarding this possible side effect.
Unknowing parents are purchasing these formulas thinking they will make their
babies smarter, when it appears that many of the babies are losing nutrients out
the stool.

These formulas are proving to be an expensive barrier to breastfeeding. NABA
receives a steady stream of reports not only regarding the side effects but
also the comments mothers make when they buy the formula. Many think that there
are breast milk ingredients or breast milk itself in the formula. Talk about
misleading! Early supplementation is a high risk factor for non-exclusive
breastfeeding and premature weaning.
