A Mom that has 3 month old twins called about a breathing problem. The girl
never had many problems with her latch on. The boy did well for the 2 days
and then we had to work with him over 4-5 days to get him latched well.

Mom is finally doing well with both babies. Each takes one side for the whole
day and then they switch the next day. The boy baby is now making horrible
breathing sounds from his mouth right when he latches. It sounds like he is
trying to catch his breath. Once the milk starts his breathing calms down. He
has been using his thumb quite a bit lately. It sounds sort of like a
"whooping" noise. She also says that sometimes it seems like he stops
breathing until she blows into his face. The baby is growing and urinating.
He stools about every 3rd day.

I am having her go to the pediatrician to have his lungs evaluated.

Any ideas?
