Just watched the Dr. Phil segment with Kate.

Kate, I thought that you framed the issue well, and made nursing an older
child appear to be a viable option that is within the range of normal.

By re-framing it this way (specifically your comments about making sure your
children felt that extended breastfeeding was acceptable) - and continuing
the conversation with Dr. Phil under that understanding - you provided an
example of nursing an older child that completely changed the issue from one
of bizzare behavior to one of setting limits.

I don't think the representation could have been better under the
circumstances.  Sadly, this issue on daytime TV is inevitably bound to
portray extended nursing as deviant behavior.  That is, after all, what
people watch for.

Kate, I am impressed with the efforts you went through to cast this in a
postive light.
