I received an email recently when I inquired about why a particular person was unable to nurse. She said that her nipple kept separating from her areola. I am unable to check the archives so was wondering if anyone would be able to enlighten me as to what causes this and if anything can be done to allow the mother to nurse her next baby. Is this something thas happens if the baby has a tight tongue or short frenulum? I would love to see her be able to nurse her next baby if at all possible. She was able to nurse her first child for a year without any problem but with the next six children she was only able to nurse for a periond of a couple of days until about three weeks because of the nipple separation. She has been told she has large nipples, therefore that makes it hard for the baby to get on properly.
