It is now making it into the mainstream, but really is not all that "new." Frankly, before there was encapsulation, I knew many moms who ingested their placenta after giving birth, cooked or raw. I had the placenta of my youngest in our freezer for a year, and seriously, one day, I thought I had actually cooked it up for the previous night's dinner.

I was also thinking the same thing as Lisa Marasco, that other mammals eat their placenta without negatively effecting milk supply. I watched my mama cat consume the placentas after giving birth to her kittens, and she never had an issue with milk production. The moms I knew who consumed their placenta, likewise, no issues. All anecdotal of course.

Kind Regards,
