I have to say I loved Linda's response on this topic. Trying to define the word
"diagnosing" as something only a physician can do is, IMHO, something like
trying to patent the word milk to mean only a bovine secretion. This has been
argued ad nauseum by nurses though, who took it to an extreem in designating
certain diagnoses at "nursing diagnoses" as if everything else a medical
diagnosis.  I'm glad we outlived that phase.

BTW, my husband the electrical engineering professor is constantly teaching his
students to troubleshoot and diagnose electrical problems.
