Pretty hair-raising second-hand accounts have been shared of CLCs who have
(sometimes grossly) over-stepped their CLC Scope of Practice, a scope which
is intended to focus on **counseling** mothers using evidence-based
practice ([CLC] is "a specialist in lactation counseling;" [CLCs have]
"demonstrated
the competencies and skills required to provide safe, evidence-based
counseling for pregnant, lactating and breastfeeding women: all at
http://talpp.org/clc.html)

CLCs have a defined ethics code, and disciplinary process. If you poke
around long enough, you'll find them buried in the Candidates' Handbook,
Sections 12 and 15: http://talpp.org/CLC_Candidate_Handbook_2010S.pdf.

So -- if the question is "What should we do?," the answer is pretty clear:
File a complaint using the defined process enforced by the entity (TALPP)
that awards the CLC credential after examination . This is akin to filing
a complaint against an IBCLC, using the defined process enforced by the
entity (IBLCE) that awards the IBCLC credential after examination.
