To avoid confusion, I usually put it this way:  "Try feeding on one
side for several hours, (insert suggestion of 3 hrs for mom
describing mild symptoms or 4-6 hours for more severe symptoms), no
matter how many feedings that turns out to be."

I tend to operate on the expectation that babies feed frequently, so
suggesting a time frame is clearer.  Adding "however many feedings
that turns out to be" leaves it up to the mom to schedule feeds, or
not.
