After not encountering a mother-baby dyad with impetigo ('school sores')
for many years, the other day I did, and then I heard of another from
another source. The previous time the situation was a mobile older
baby with infected sores, who transmitted the impetigo to her mother's
nipple (1). This time the baby was newborn, and is having antibiotic
therapy in hospital. Are other people seeing more of this?

I have been 'nomail' for about a year because of other commitments. With
2016 coming to an end, I'd like to wish all on Lactnet happy holidays. For
some of you, I know this means you will be working on the holidays as
mothers give birth and/or need breastfeeding support, whatever the date on
the calendar. Whether you are working or taking time off, my good wishes go
out to you.
