The Spring 96 Medela RoundUp Magagizine offers the "Medela
Professional Autoclave" Clips from the article are as follows:
"Steam sterilization is recommended worldwide by health care
professionals to prevent the spread od infection and cross
contamination. The Medela unit is an automatic, portable steam
autoclave, and the perfect size for breastpump kits. It
sterilizes at 121 deg C for 16 minutes. The complete one-step
cycle takes less than 30 minutes." It then goes on to discribe
the parts included with the machine and about the test strips.
It does NOT however say if this is to sterilize pump kits to
reused by the same person or different persons. I *Personally*
would NOT recommend the sharing of pump parts between people. I
have had mothers that are friends that share parts, but I fully
inform them of the risks and how to properly sterilize them by
boiling.

Hope this helps! :)
