Donna--
Breastfeeding Support Consultants has an excellent tear sheet on "Storing
and Feeding
Breastmilk." While it doesn't necessarily answer your client's question
entirely, it will give her information to make decisions.
"Breastmilk can sit at room temperature for 8 hours and then be put into the
refrigerator for 2 days. If it has not been used in 2 days, put it into the
freezer for 3-12 months, depending on the type of freezer. Newly pumped
breastmilk is good for 5 days, but can only be frozen if it is less than 2
days old...
"After breastmilk has been warmed, use it within 4 hours or throw it away."
This sheet can be ordered from BSC. BSC has a web site, I believe.
