Thank you for the response to the Scarlet Fever post.  This was not a patient of mine so I do have limited information; although, the assumption that mom was older and had already had the illness and that would result in resistance to the bacteria, being no longer susceptible to the bacteria, was something I thought to be true [mom reported she was told she was "immune"-perhaps that was not appropriate].  Feel free to correct me on this; this is a learning process and was the first time I had been asked about scarlet fever and if breastfeeding offered any immunity. 

Unfortunately, the 16 month old has contracted it too.  We were hoping that due to the baby's age that some protection from birth/breastfeeding would offer him some protection.
