I thought one of the acceptable uses for banked, pasteurized human milk was for transplant patients and those undergoing chemotherapy.

Check with the HMBANA people.

Here is my question;

Baby is 4 months old with leukemia, adopted, and receiving donated fresh and
frozen breastmilk. Baby does not tolerate formula as it has bloody stools
when fed formula. Baby is needing a transplant of some kind or transfusion
(I can't remember sorry and it is too late to call the mother). So the
mother has been told that she needs to feed baby formula after the
transplant as breastmilk will attack the new whatever (can I be more vague,
sorry). But as I said when baby receives formula she does not do well.

Is there something that can be done such as pasteurizing the breastmilk so
that antibodies don't attack? The mom has over 4000 ounces of milk saved and
one of the mothers donating to her pumps 60 ounces a day for this mom so she
has access to a lot of fresh milk.

Is there anything besides formula that can be done for this baby?

Also, the doctors wanted the mother to formula feed the baby to help it gain
weight as the baby isn't gaining well through the radiation treatments. The
mother told them no way, she would find the milk with more fat and feed that
to her baby. So they are sorting through 4000 ounces of milk to find the
creamy looking batches.

I have never run across this so it is new to me. Any advice is appreciated.
