Anna,
I don't have the article you mention but I do have many others on this
topic.
Here are some
Dewey et al (1984). Breast milk volume and composition during late lactation
(7-20 months). Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition 3:
713-720.
"Lactose.... concentrations similar to earlier stages of lactation."Actual
values (4-6 months 7.71-7.87 g/100ml; 7-11 months 7.57-7.82 g/100ml;
7.23-7.93g/100ml)

Boediman et al (1979). Composition of breast milk beyond one year. Tropical
Pediatrics and Environmental Child Health
"Composition of ...carbohydrate...examined and found to be substantially the
same as in the first year of lactation" Actual values (0-1yr 6.94g/100ml;
1-2yrs and 2-3 yrs 6.93 g/100ml)

Coppa et al (1993). Changes in carbohydrate composition in human milk over 4
months of lactation. Pediatrics 91: 637-641.
 Lactose conc increased from 56g/l on day 4 to 69g/l on day 120.

Nagra (1989). Longtitudinal study in biochemical composition of human milk
during the first year of lactation. J of Tropical Pediatrics 35: 126-128.
1 to 12 month values (g/dl) 6.8, 6.8, 6.8, 6.9, 6.8, 6.9, 6.8, 6.9, 6.9,
6.9, 6.9, 6.8

Allen et al (1991) Studies in human lactation: milk composition and daily
secretion rates of macronutrients in the first year of lactation. American J
of Clinical Nutrition 54: 69-80.
A really detailed paper, goes into mechanisms etc, also has many references
Values Day 21 176 mmol/L; day 45 182 mmol/L; day 90 188mmol/L; day 180
mmol/L

Anyway, hardly sugar slop!

Hope this is helpful.
