Just a post to the list to say that I recently finished my first Lactation
Intern, and am proud to say that she just passed her Boards!  If you are looking
for hours as an Intern, make certain that you have attended a  strong,
reputable Lactation Management course, have all of the educational course work
requirements, as stated my IBLCE, and are ready to start as an Intern. Before my
Intern ever started with me, we went over all of the course work, and education
that she would need to have prior to time with me. When and only when she had
this knowledge base, was she allowed to work with patients under my
supervision.  I thoroughly enjoyed my Intern and know that she will make a great IBCLC.
I appreciated all the questions she had for me EVERY day. If you want to be an
Intern, be prepared.  If you are thinking of taking on an intern, be sure she
is ready, and be prepared to be challenged and enjoy it.
