Re      : Moxipen for Mastitis

Moxipen is simply amoxicillin.  It is not particularly good in treating
staphlococcal infections,  although the newer preparation Augmentin which
contains amoxicillin + clauvulanic acid is much better.

Best choice for oral therapy of staph mastitis is still cefadroxil(Duricef),
oxacillin,  dicloxacillin or cephalexin (Nelson's Antimicrobial Therapy).

Penicillin hypersensitive patients can often use a cephalsporin,  or a
macrolide antibiotic(azithromycin).
