I am incredibly disappointed in Jane Brody's article in the Tuesday New
York Times. It featured the addition of DHA and AA in formula by Martek.

She missed several opportunties to emphasize the important differences in
breast milk, ending her section on "Breast is Still Best" with "Pediatric
experts, including those who are staunch advocates of breastfeeding,
emphasize that women who give their babies formula instead of breast milk
should not feel guilty." This section also emphasized the difficulties of
pumping while working.

In addition, the section on "Making formulas better" suggest that "women
who consume little or no fatty fish may want to supplement their babies'
diets with DHA-enriched formula when it becomes available."

She also describes the faster growth of formula fed infants in terms that
imply that this faster growth somehow contributes to better nourishment.
