Fri was a rotten day!
1) lady called to get a tube for her pump that she had melted. During the
course of the conversation she tells me that the pediatrician insists that
she give her baby a suppository every 3 days unless the baby has had a BM,
the doc doesn't feel "comfortable" with the baby not going! Also has the
mom supplementing because if the baby is not having a BM, then there's
something wrong with the baby's absorbsion (what a dummy!) of breast milk.
The mom says that what I said was the same thing another LC told her at the
hospital, we told her it was wrong! and to consider getting another ped. Of
course, lots of conversation, sure hope she changes peds.
2) a mom with a yeast infection called for the 2nd time in two weeks. The
doc at the Indian Health Service during the 1st visit said he didn't see any
yeast and wouldn't believe she had it, on the 2nd visit when she went in
with a treatment plan, gave her the Rx for Nystatin for her nipples and the
pharmacist gave her a different meds as "it was basically the same" and
refused to fill the Diflucan Rx because of the rating. I'm almost screaming
with frustration. Mom stopped by and got my Hale and went back with anger
in her eye (just happens to be a lawyer) and I hope and pray she overcomes.
Told her to get the RX and take it somewhere else if necessary.
Just one of those awful days that comes around!
Jacie in Albuquerque, New Mexico where we had a great snow storm Friday
night, 3 inches, all melted now, but it was lovely!
