They should go Baby Friendly for the same reason all maternity care institutions in the world ought to do so, some of which Gloria listed in her post in this thread.  It is part of the minimum standard for maternity care if one cares at all about long- and short-term outcomes for mother and child, and practicing based on the evidence.  There are no good reasons, not ONE, for not going Baby Friendly, unless your hospital is run on dividends from shares in a company manufacturing breastmilk substitutes.  Hospitals serving military families in the US are publicly owned institutions.  It's in their best interests and the interests of the users, a win-win situation.
