An alternative to offering infant formula for FTT babies (not due to
watering down formula to stretch food supply, which is an education issue)
is to prescribe donor human milk. It is covered by Medicaid in some states
and is also be covered by some private insurance carriers. Recipients are
never turned away for inability to pay.

Suzanne wrote "But seriously, how SHOULD I handle the situation of the
malnourished 8 month old, who is not FTT enough to go in the hospital?
(Outpatient workup and management of FTT is still the standard of care in
the US.) Y'all have said specifically what I SHOULDN'T do, but what
SHOULD I do?"

Program Coordinator, Mothers' Milk Bank at Austin
