Valerie generously shares the following info re Natural Care Human Milk
Fortifier.
rom patent # 6403349
"G. SIMILAC.RTM. Natural Care Low-Iron Human Milk Fortifier Ready To Use, 24
Cal/fl oz.

Usage: Designed to be mixed with human milk or to be fed alternatively with
human milk to low-birth-weight infants.

Why in the world would a healthy term infant EVER be given 24 calorie
fortifier designed for the low birth wt. baby? First, human milk for a
healthy term baby should never need to fortified. It may need to be
supplemented if supply is low, but not with 24 cal formula. Second, this
sounds like malpractice unless there is something about this I'm not
understanding. Healthy term infants are not fed 24 calorie formula! I'd ask
the physicians for their justification in recommending it or in even
intimating to mothers of term infants that their breast milk needs
foritifying.
