The 3.5 would be the smallest, but I have never seen one that small - not
even in the NICU. We have occasional problems with the 5 fr's clogging up
just with fat and particulate matter, I can imagine that the 3.5 would be
even more difficult to clean unless you had a 10 or 20 cc syrynge to use for
the purpose. I would try the 3.5's if you can get your hands on them, but I
wouldn't order a lot of them. 

We use nutri-caths - most babies hardly seem to notice when we place them
since they are very soft and more pliable than most feeding tubes. They are
made of some sort of silastic type material - not hard plastic and even the
larger 6.5 size would work pretty well for an SNS - especially one where you
make the baby drink from a level below his own - like a straw. The 8 would
be pretty big!
