Hi everyone,
It's interesting that new mothers will seek out all the information they
can get, speak to every LC, midwife, and MD about the problems they are
having only to decide to quit breastfeeding.

In many of the parenting classes I teach, parents approach me with
*lists* of all the techniques, ideas, and suggestions they have tried
and failed. It almost seems as if they come with a *ready-made-excuse*
for not succeeding.

I get the feeling that often, they will do anything just so that they
can say they've *tried everything*. Suggestions are dismissed with
"I've tried that, it doesn't work."

It seems to me that some mothers make up their minds about the outcome
of something and then *try* every suggestion in order to validate their
belief that it wouldn't have worked anyway.

It's very frustrating, but we continue offering help and hope and let
mothers take what they need.
