It's called a Baby Safe Feeder; designed by the father of a child who
almost choked to death at 9 months on a teething biscuit... Parents were
there, child was in a high chair, basically were "doing everything right".
The mesh bag is supposed to allow babies/toddlers to experience fresh
foods, rather than prepackaged baby foods, while safely learning to chew...
I think that's it in a nutshell. The designers say clearly that it is not
a pacifier and should not be used as one. It's only for use under
supervision, like all food should be... Anyway, I just got one tonight
actually for my 14 mos. son who seems to be struggling a bit with the
chewing concept, so I haven't actually used it yet, but a friend of mine
loves hers...
