A question was raised concerning the effect of Depo Provera on lactation.
Having spoken with many LCs concerning this issue, we simply don't really
know the answer. In our center, we use it in most lactating women. My LC
is reasonably certain that it has minimal or no effect on her patients, and
we see hundreds of them( who by the way receive it on day 2-3 postpartum).
I am starting a study to review this population to see if we can determine
any reduction in breastmilk. I'll let you know our impressions.
