Amy - you can ATTEND a presentation which is sponsored by a formula company
without contravening the WHO Code. However, you cannot accept any *gifts*
from them, including food, drink, pens, notepads, free parking, etc.
If a meal or snack is included, then bring your own food and drink, and be
sure to let everyone know WHY you are doing so :)
Be sure to take notes and ASK QUESTIONS, including one about this obvious
conflict of interest.
You might also want to bring along copies of the Code to hand out to other
participants. The odds are that many of them will not be familiar with it.

warmly, norma

Calling Liz Brooks! And anyone else who's up-to-speed on the IBCLC Code of
Ethics:

There's a webcast for IBCLCs & WIC peer counselors being hosted by a local
hospital. The hospital has invited (INVITED! GAH!) Mead Johnson to sponsor
a breakfast to go along with the webcast.

Can IBCLCs attend without compromising their ethics?

What are the ramifications for IBCLCs of partaking in the breakfast?

Thanks in advance!
Amy West, CLC
