thanks for your wonderful encouraging post about the Ped sent from heaven!
Having just taken care of a mom in the hospital with sore nipples on day two,
whose baby had a very short frenulum (and a severe heart murmur to boot,
causing him to turn a bit blue during feedings!) I was most distressed when
her pediatrician informed her that"latest research shows frenulums do NOT
affect breastfeeding, and that often times lactation consultants aren't up on
the current research." (sigh. I am not making this up)
Oh by the way, did I mention her family history of a father and uncle with
short frenulums of which were both clipped when they were babies??)
Anyway, thankfully this mom was taking maters into her own hands, and was
going to have the baby's frenulum clipped as soon as she could make the
arrangements.
I could go on but you've heard the laments before.....
