Thank you to all that have replied to my post. I forgot to tell you
that the triplets were 4 days old at the time of the home visit
(yesterday). Mom is following Jan Barger's suggestion of rotation for
feedings. Mom may need to pump as she has a very cracked, but healing
right nipple. (It has improved from 2 days previously). She has been
using an Aquasorb dressing, and is switching to using lanolin to that
nipple. Latches have improved since the first few days.
I think Dad is more flexible than when I first met them regarding the
scheduling. Mom has a clipboard system for keeping track of who at
first, times, voids and stools. They had been timimg/limiting feedings
to only 20 minutes per infant upon advice of a relative who had
breastfed twins, but were questioning the advisability of this. When I
observed yesterday's feeding, the babies would take about 1/2 hour each
to feed, but took less of the pc they were being offered.
Mom seems to have a good support system going in regards to help with
the babies. She has not had to change a diaper yet--She feeds the
babies, cuddles and snuggles with them, and fits a snack and a nap in
while others help with the laundry, errands, etc.
