There is NO rationale for postponing immunizations in this infant. We are
all subjected to a bombardment of bacteria & viruses on a daily basis.
That's NORMAL. Giving 4 immunizations at one visit doesn't cause any more
reactions to any vaccine than giving 1 immunization does. As long as the
baby is unimmunized, he/she remains at risk for developing the diseases the
immunizations are designed to prevent, should he come in contact with that
particular organism. The current 4 immunizations are generally as follows:
DTaP--against Diptheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis (pertussis the real disease
can kill a young infant, as well as causing seizures; the vaccine has minimal
side effects).
IPV--for polio
HiB or HiB/HepB combo vaccine--for Hemophilus Influenzae bacteria (which can
cause meningitis, sepsis, etc. and can kill a baby in a few hours--I've seen
this happen before the vaccine was introduced), and for Hepatitis B.
Prevnar--against the 7 commonest forms of pneumococcus (Pneumococcus causes
meningitis, pneumonia and about 20% of ear infections--it can cause a
bloodstream infection and the pneumococcus is now often resistant to common
antibiotics, so the vaccine is a great idea.)

None of the vaccines worsen eczema or protein intolerances.

The advice to eliminate common allergens from the maternal diet is right on
and definitely should be tried.
