With reference to the question of whether formula or cow's would be more
suitable for an eight month old, I just wanted to point out that one reason
that most formulas are hazardous is that they are MADE from cow's milk. We
frequently hear that we should delay the addition of cow's milk to a child's
diet, but somehow forget that formulas are made from a substance which is a
perfect first food - for a calf. (Unfortunately by the time it hits the
supermarket shelf it has even lost many of the special properties which make
it such an important food for bovine babies.) Parents facing this question
needs to be fully aware of the hazards of ALL substitutes for human milk, so
that they can make an informed decision.
