On an earlier thread, Anne Altshuler shared a link from the Pump
Station on when/how to introduce a bottle to breastfed baby
(http://www.pumpstation.com/pumpstation/dept.asp?s_id=0&dept_id=3279)

Here's a quote that I'm wondering about:

"Suggestions for the best time to start bottle-feeding a breastfed
infant varies in the current research from two weeks to six weeks of
age. Two helpful markers are that the mother's milk supply is well
established and breastfeeding is going well. When these criteria are
met, we suggest starting at two to four weeks of age since an older
baby may strongly refuse the bottle."

The research isn't cited unfortunately, but I'd love to hear opinions
on this statement from others. Please make the assumption that the
mother has a planned separation from her baby, like a return to work
at 6 weeks or later.

I really haven't worked hands-on with bottlefeeding much and my own
two kids took bottles with no problem at all at 10 weeks and 4 mos
(never from me and pretty infrequently).

Thanks in advance,

Jessica Claire
