I don't know if this is an improper use of Lactnet, but I am part of a local synagogue wide email list in Teaneck, NJ and a woman posted yesterday that she has 300 oz. of breastmilk in her freezer that she is looking to donate. I do not personally know the woman. The milk is all from January (what a producer!). Anyway, I'd hate to see it go to waste. Does anyone from the NY/NJ area have clients who could use the milk? The mother would probably be amenable to getting tested for diseases.

I imagine she's be willing to ship it in dry ice outside the area if the recipient picks up the cost.

Anyway, I apologize if this is an improper use of this forum and would love other suggestions. As I understand it, from attempting to help another woman donate previously, the milk banks are full and only take preemie milk. My friend tried to donate her preemie milk and the Texas milk bank said it wasn't fatty enough.

Thanks,
Julie, CD & PCD (DONA), LCCE, LLLL
