Does anyone know if a gastric sleeve surgery can affect milk supply like the more common gastric bypass can? I have a mom with her third baby. Gastric sleeve surgery was in April. With her last infant two and a half years ago (before surgery) she was only able to produce about 25% of his needed supply and baby was mostly formula fed for three months and then completely weaned to formula. Mom says she feels great since surgery and reports that her body is responding to things that it never did before so she is hopeful for a successful breastfeeding outcome with this baby, although she did not have any breast changes in pregnancy. I gave her some cautious optimism and we will be following weights and output closely but I just wondered If anyone had experience with this. Posts in the archives just refer to lap bands, not sleeves. Thanks for any advice.
