(Sorry, I deleted the earlier post with the e-mail of the person doing
the data collection, so I must send this to the list.)

I would be glad to check this for the Milwaukee area. I might even see
if I can get my sister to get the prices from central South Dakota if
you'd like.
What formula (mathematical, not AIM) should we use? Or do you just want
the individual can costs (along with the amount they make for
concentrate and powder) and you will do the calculations? I noticed an
earlier post cited Wellstart as 9344 oz for the first year and Ross as
14000 (they must expect a lot to be thrown away!). Would this study be
justified in rounding out to 9500 or even 10000 for easier calculations?

On a related topic, I was distressed to see a comment in a recent
LifeLines from AWHONN stating that a mom cound get "free formula for a
year" from WIC! How can we get the word out that this is not an
accurate statement? I find so many moms think WIC will provide them all
the formula they need and then when baby's needs surpass the
SUPPLEMENTAL amount WIC gets, they begin to learn the actual cost. Many
hospital nurses also have this notion. If WIC must give out formula, I
wish it would be a percentage fo a baby's needs right from the start.
As I understand it, what a mom gets is enough to fully supply a baby
until it reaches about 12 pounds!

Winnie
