There was a very informative article in USLCA’s Journal of Clinical Lactation a couple years ago that explained on a musculoskeletal level how CST can address breastfeeding issues. Sorry I don’t remember which issue but I’m sure you can find it in their archives.

Nikki and others,

Maybe you misunderstood my post. I BELIEVE CST works, and therefor refer many clients. I want what is the best for their breastfeeding. This respected pediatrician in my community thinks it is a crock, and just wasting mothers’ money. He was surprised that I “would buy into that ridiculousness.” How would you intelligently explain what CST does and how it helps the baby. And saying it is placebo but works does not sound very medical. And I don’t believe it is placebo. We work hard as breastfeeding professionals to be looked at as scientific, medical and evidence based. Our profession prides ourselves on this. So I was just wondering how to explain a technique that we refer to intelligently and without sounding like an idiot. 😊

This is so interesting? Has anyone tried this or heard of someone who did?

Thanks,

Just read the article about using the condom for dimpled nipples.

Interesting.

I would caution about using the end of the condom on the base of the nipple DURING breastfeeding due to possible ingestion by the baby.

I still have a vivid memory that happened over 30 years ago during a consult of a baby who ingested the paper tape securing the tube of a tube feeding device.

Luckily, with a finger swipe I removed it out of the baby’s mouth. Thereafter, I began adhering the tube with a very large vertical piece of tape away from the areola.

I would very much like to find a medical mission in Haiti involving Women's Health. The only viable one I have found so far has a cost of $2,300 for one week. I hope to bring my two grown daughters with me so that comes to close to 8k for one week of working! I would love to find someone local who could put me in touch with a clinic that might like some volunteers for a week.

Anne
