I just whipped out my unread June issue of W Magazine to check out Terry
Hadley's information and there it is in the June 1997 issue on page 77--a
gorgeous and lovingly serene woman in jewelry (from a store very near to
San Francisco) with her babe skin-to-skin in a sling-like garment that
matches her clothing. I am now going to get on the phone to find out about
the ad. Bingo! I just called them and found out it was done by an ad
agency in NCY by "some guys" and the manager is going to phone me back with
more information.

And get this.....the guy asked me about this friend of his who is nursing
a 3-yr old boy and was wondering if this was normal!!!! He definitely got
an earful out of me and was actually quite surprised to hear about all of
the wonderful benefits of nursing an older child! After telling him that
"ideally the breastfeeding relationship should end when the child outgrows
the need" and everything else, he seemed a little more comfortable with the
idea of nursing an older child. When he asked how long I nursed I said
just past 4 years. It was all very amusing!

I told him that the ad was fantastic and that I was having it framed for my
practice and that I hoped that they continued to portray this type of
positive image and suggested one of a nursing mother for the future!
