I had lots of Lacnet to read or I might have replied sooner.

This may cause some problems. My understanding (from BAB) is that
the above procedure might work with the older rubber nipple shields,
BUT, with the new silicone ones sharp edges are left which could
cause cuts on either the mom's nipples or baby's tongue - depending
on which side got the shaved side.

Does this sound correct? I would like to know since one local
hospital (the "Baby Hospital) tends to give out nipple shields like
candy (luckily they also give out my number ;->). I find that I get
lots of calls from moms who would like to get rid of the nipple
shield that the well meaning, but, uninformed nurse gave them as a
quick fix.

Anyway, anyone else have comments about shaving away part of the nipple shield?
