Dear Lactnetters:
I just had to respond to this string. I worked as an Advice Nurse on the
phones for a very large HMO in my area. One of our nurses received a call
from a father stating that their newborn was very sick with GI disturbances.
The nurse asked the standard questions and then questioned him about feeding
methods. After a while, she found out that the parents were giving the baby
undiluted formula! Can you imagine how bad this little baby must have felt?
I can't remember the outcome--I know she sent the baby to the doctor. It is
nice to know that mother's milk doesn't have to be fixed before feeding.
