Contrary to what I've read here on Lactnet concerning Janet Jackson's
halftime routine at the Superbowl, I would like to say that I found what
little I saw of the show lewd and in poor taste, but what can anyone
expect when MTV is in charge?  If Janet had been up there on stage
breastfeeding a baby, I would have been all for it; but her breastbaring
was not nurturing.  It was the result of a man tearing off her shirt,
and I do not find that nurturing or entertaining.  It is stylized rape
and I find it offensive.  Justin Timberlake looked like a stallion stuck
in a barn surrounded by brood mares in heat and wasn't exactly the kind
of role model I would pick for my son.  I see nothing artistic about a
man ripping off a woman's clothing, and I don't think we really want to
portray this as acceptable.  If she wants to drop her own clothes and
seduce him, then go for it.  But frankly, either way, it's insulting to
caring and loving men and women and sends the message to children that
men have every right to just rip off a woman's clothes.  No wonder
teenage girls now think being called "bitch" is OK.  Not very
empowering, ladies, and I'm surprised by the reaction here.
