I have a mom who is 5 weeks postpartum. In the first week her nipples were just a wreck. Bleeding, skin gone, the whole thing. I gave her Newman's recipe, and a shield and of course taught about latch. Weeks later baby is doing better but moms nipples won't heal. 
They are still very sore. She has used a few different creams that should have worked, with nothing. The nipples aren't red or pink, they look fine except half the nipple is going and raw. 
She is using the shield to protect them while feeding baby but it still hurts. Any thoughts?
